The International Festival is an event sponsered by the Girl Scouts of America. Every year, each troop chooses a country to represent at the event. This year, my daughter's troop chose Japan. They study the country, make costumes, craft a few native items to sell and march in a parade at the festival. These girls learn so much from this event. They each memorize one fact about the country and share it with the audience. One of the wonderful pieces of information that I learned today was that Japan has a 0% illiteracy rate. Our troop leaders not only sewed the kimonos, but made each girl a pair of these shoes by hand. Aren't they amazing?

Wow. I am impressed. I think that calls for a box of cookies!
Can you walk in such shoes? I not.
